ICC-ES Staff Active in Industry

Steven R. Thorsell, AIA, CSI, Manager of ICC-ES Environmental Programs was re-elected in December to serve another three-year term on the Building Enclosure Technology and Environment Council (BETEC) Board of Direction. BETEC is a voluntary membership council of the National Institute of Building Sciences. BETEC is charged with encouraging optimum energy use of buildings through a better understanding of how overall, complex building components interact with each other and with the environment.

Thorsell has been a member since 1999 and served on the Board since 2004. He also participated in a workshop sponsored by ASTM, titled "State of the Union" of Sustainability Standards Workshop and made a presentation on an overview of the 2012 IgCC in Jacksonville, Fla. Additionally, he will be giving a presentation at the PMI Spring Conference in March on the International Green Construction Code.

ICC-ES technical staff also recently attended the World of Concrete, KBIS, International Builders' Show and the International Roofing Exposition. The ICC-ES technical staff continues to expand their presence in industry involvement. Through interactive dialogue with industry, part of a dedicated effort by ICC-ES to best serve our customers, ICC-ES is working to ensure current and relevant information is readily available that helps fuel industry's needs.
