ICC-ES Supports Manufacturers to Comply with the 2015 I-Codes

The International Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) is prepared to update manufacturers' existing ICC-ES evaluation reports so that they meet the requirements of the newly published 2015 International Codes (I-Codes). Many changes in the 2015 I-Codes provide clarity so they can be applied consistently. The 2015 I-Codes address design and installation of innovative materials and encourage the use of new and smarter technological advances. "As a subsidiary of the International Code Council, ICC-ES has the technical knowledge and resources to help manufacturers comply with the 2015 I-Codes in a timely manner," said ICC-ES President Shahin Moinian, PE. "We encourage manufacturers to comply with the most current codes for expanded market acceptance."

Manufacturers Benefit from ICC-ES Expedited Service

Several manufacturers have taken advantage of the ICC-ES Expedited Service for new and revised reports. Polycoat (ESR-2785); Geotech Enterprises (ESR-3623); Soil Retention Products, Inc. (ESR-3073); Structural Technologies (ESR-3606); Butech Building Technology (ESR-3343); and GAF Corporation (ESR-3571) with products ranging from underlayment systems and helical pile foundation systems to porcelain tile ventilated systems, retaining wall systems and insulated sheathing are among the expedited service customers.

Revisions to ICC-ES Acceptance Criteria for Post-installed Adhesive Anchors, AC308

Acceptance Criteria for Post-installed Adhesive Anchors in Concrete Elements (AC308) was initially adopted in 2006 as the basis for the issuance of ICC-ES evaluation reports to address strength design of adhesive anchors compatible with the provisions of ACI 318 Appendix D. AC308 replaced AC58, the allowable stress design criteria under which evaluation reports for adhesive anchors had been issued since 1995. Between 2006 and 2013 more than 40 evaluation reports were issued under AC308, a ground-breaking document that included qualification requirements that accounted for the effects of cracked concrete, adverse installation conditions and sustained tension loads. The ICC-ES PMG Listing Program recently issued PMG-1237 to Conbraco Industries, Inc. (Apollo Valves). The program certified Conbraco's forged full port threaded and press end brass ball valves to the 2012, 2009 and 2006 editions of the International Plumbing Code, International Residential Code, Uniform Plumbing Code and the 2010 National Plumbing Code of Canada. With the ICC-ES certification, Conbraco can distribute its products in both the U.S. and Canada. The ICC-ES PMG program is accredited by the Standards Council of Canada. All Canadian provinces and territories accept the ICC-ES cPMG mark of conformity.

ICC-ES Continues to Grow Its Customer Base in China Supporting Manufacturers Globally

"If the specific design complies with American standards, which tests do I need to do to pass certification?" "How long does it take to complete a certification?" "What type of certification does ICC-ES PMG offer? What is the difference between ICC-ES and similar companies?" These were the most frequently asked questions by manufacturers and wholesalers who visited the ICC-ES PMG booth at the Kitchen and Bath Show China. ICC-ES PMG received new applications that continue ICC-ES' expansion into the Chinese market. This was the 19th year for the show and the third time ICC-ES PMG has exhibited.

ICC-ES Evaluation Committee Updates

The ICC Evaluation Committee considered eight agenda items ranging from proposed new acceptance criteria for glass fiber-reinforced polymer bars for internal reinforcement of concrete members to proposed revisions to acceptance criteria for wood-frame horizontal diaphragms during its June 3 meeting in Los Angeles, Calif. The next Evaluation Committee meeting is scheduled for Oct. 14 in Birmingham, Ala. Important deadlines are posted here. If you are unable to attend, registration for the complimentary webcast of the meeting will be available on the ICC-ES website closer to the meeting date.
