ICC-ES receives additional ANSI accreditation.           

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Accreditation Committee deemed the ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) as an eligible Type III Program Operator in accordance with ISO 14020-2000, ISO 14025-2006, ISO 21930-2007 and its internal requirements. Moreover, ICC-ES' Type III as a certification body that verifies/validates Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) was accredited by ANSI under the requirements of ISO/IEC 17065-2012, ISO 14025-2006 and ISO 14020-2000. ICC-ES is one of the first four entities to receive both eligibility and accreditation for its Type III program under this pilot program.

 
 
     
 

ES reports updated to new AC308.           

Post-Installed Adhesive Anchors manufacturers who hold new or revised ICC-ES evaluation reports published on or after Jan. 15, 2015, are in compliance with the new requirements in AC308 Acceptance Criteria for Post-installed Adhesive Anchors in Concrete Elements. The changes and new test requirements are based on the 2012 International Building Code and the American Concrete Institute (ACI) standard ACI 355.4-11. AC308 was used with ACI 355.4-11 to ensure all changes and test requirements are met.

 
 
     
 

ICC-ES PMG, SAI Global release new plumbing product listings.           

The ICC-ES PMG Listing Program and SAI Global have issued two new listings for two Australian manufacturers. ICC-ES and SAI offer a dual certification program for all plumbing, mechanical and gas product manufacturers. The cooperative effort reduces inspection fees and combined factory audits to manufacturers who successfully certify their plumbing products with both ICC-ES and SAI Global. Manufacturers who use the program may display both the ICC-ES and SAI Global marks of conformity on certified products.

 
 
     
 

Huber receives ICC-ES listing.           

Huber Engineered Woods LLC is the most recent manufacturer to receive an ICC-ES Building Product Listing (ESL-1016). The report demonstrates Zip System® Wall Sheathing compliance with requirements for use as a component in air barrier assemblies as referenced in Section: C402.4.1.2 of the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code. ZIP System® Wall Sheathing panels are OSB wood structural panels having a laminated exterior facer. It is used as combination wall sheathing, air barrier and water-resistive barrier.

 
 
     
 

ICC-ES PMG, Home Innovation Research Labs to offer Canadian certification.           

ICC Evaluation Service formalized a working partnership to offer Canadian listings to Home Innovation Research Labs clients. "Home Innovation clients whose products are certified by ICC-ES PMG know that code officials approve such products for installation with confidence," said Dawn LaFleur-Qualley, Director, ICC-ES PMG. "With full certification by both organizations, the certification reports are more readily accepted in the U.S., as well as all provinces and territories in Canada."

 
 
     
 

ICC-ES Evaluation Committee to meet in June.           

New building products and technologies are being developed constantly. When there are no clear requirements in the code for new products and methods, the ICC-ES Evaluation Committee approves new and revised acceptance criteria (AC) used to evaluate products. The ICC-ES Evaluation Committee will meet in Los Angeles June 2 to consider revisions to several existing AC. Their discussions will include topics ranging from Acceptance Criteria Anchor Channels in Concrete Elements to Building-Integrated Photovoltaic Roof Covering Systems. Registration for the complimentary webcast will be available on the ICC-ES website prior to the meeting. More than 170 attendees from the U.S., Canada, Cayman Islands, Germany, New Zealand and Norway viewed the February webcast. Important deadlines are posted here. Resolution of the items considered will be posted on the ICC-ES website.

Ekenel serves on ACI editorial panel.           

Dr. Mahmut Ekenel, P.E., ICC-ES Staff Engineer, was an editor of a recently published American Concrete Institute (ACI) Symposium Publication titled Fiber Reinforced Concrete for Sustainable Structures (SP-299). This publication contains eight technical papers that cover a wide range of topics; from sustainability aspects of using fiber reinforced concrete ranging from durability and interface mechanisms of fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) to evaluation of eco-mechanical performance of FRC. The papers were peer reviewed by international experts in the field, according to the guidelines established by ACI.
