Building Departments Honored at Annual Conference

The following building departments were honored at the International Code Council Annual Conference for achieving International Accreditation Service (IAS) Building Department Accreditation in the past year:

1.         City of Tallahassee, Florida, Building Inspection Division
2.         City of Roseville, California, Building Inspection Division
3.         City of Rochester Hills, Michigan, Building Department
4.         The Chickasaw Nation, Oklahoma
5.         City of Aurora, Colorado, Building Code Division
6.         City of West Palm Beach, Florida, Construction Services Department
7.         Clark County School District Building Department, Nevada

The 13 categories of IAS Building Department Accreditation criteria used to assess a building department include basic jurisdictional information, department staff, permitting, budget, construction codes, plan reviews, professional credentials and licenses, inspections, certificates of occupancy, on-site evaluations, annual reports, re-evaluation and complaints.

Throughout the process, IAS evaluators carefully assess such aspects of the building department as customer service, code interpretation and enforcement, and fiscal strength.
