As part of its continuing work with the Housing and Building National Research Center (HBRC), Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Development, Arab Republic of Egypt, an IAS assessment team led by IAS Director Raj Nathan reviewed the research and development testing facilities in Cairo, Egypt. The assessment team conducted a thorough review to determine compliance of the laboratory with ISO/IEC Standard 17025 and relevant conformity assessment standards. As part of the IAS task, the technical staff of the HBRC Building Physics and Environmental Engineering, Sanitary Engineering and Structures and Steel Construction, participated in a two-day Uncertainty of Measurement training program.
IAS partnered with the HBRC to complete a five-year review of all of its test and research facilities. The task is expected to be completed as scheduled by summer of 2010, with onsite review visits scheduled for early 2010 by an IAS technical team.
During the June 2009 review visit, the IAS team also met with the senior management of HBRC, namely, Prof. Mostafa El-Demerdash, Chairman; Prof. Sherif Fakhry, Vice Chairman; and Prof. Heba Hamed Bahnasawy, Vice Chairman. |
