Alan Patterson, Chief Executive Officer for the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA), met with the International Accreditation Service (IAS) on June 17th at the IAS headquarters in Whittier, California.

NATA and IAS are signatory members of the Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (APLAC) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) Mutual Recognition Arrangements (MRAs). The APLAC and ILAC MRAs facilitates manufacturers, whose products are tested in laboratories accredited by an APLAC or ILAC MRA signatory, to have the test reports recognized by regulatory agencies around the world subject to any further regulatory requirements that must be fulfilled. NATA and IAS have cooperated in the past on acceptance of test reports in their respective economies and will continue to cooperate in this and several other areas related to accreditation and conformity assessment.

NATA is the authority responsible for the accreditation of laboratories, inspection bodies, calibration services, producers of certified reference materials and proficiency testing scheme providers throughout Australia. NATA is a not-for-profit company operating as an association owned and governed by its members and representatives from industry, government and professional bodies.
