IAS participated in the Pacific Accreditation Cooperation's (PAC) 2010 plenary meeting, June 14-18, in Wellington, New Zealand.

PAC is an association of accreditation bodies and other interested parties whose objective is to facilitate trade and commerce among economies in the Asia Pacific region. In many countries, including the U.S., accreditation is increasingly being used by regulators and the market as an impartial, independent and transparent means of assessing the competence of conformity assessment bodies. The multilateral recognition agreement (MLA) managed by PAC has been an important factor in establishing the credibility and competence of accreditation bodies in the Asia Pacific region. IAS is currently in the process of becoming a signatory to the PAC MLA.

IAS joined PAC in 2009 and is an active participant in both administrative and technical committees. In addition to participation in the Plenary Meeting, IAS Program Manager, Ron Coiner was accepted by PAC as a volunteer peer evaluator.
