Changes to IAS Technical Advisory Council

The IAS Board of Directors have selected four individuals to serve in new positions of the IAS Technical Advisory Councils (TAC).

TAC Building Department Accreditation Program — Selso Mata, Chief Building Official of Plano, Texas, is the new chair. Preet Bassi, IAS Program Manager, is the new vice chair and council member.

TAC Fire Prevention Department Accreditation Program — Chief Martin King of the Bureau of Fire Prevention and Urban Affairs, City of West Allis, Wisconsin, Fire Department and Preet Bassi, IAS Program Manager are new TAC members.

TAC Personnel Certification Body Accreditation Program — James Kendzel, Executive Director and CEO of the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) has been added as a new member of the TAC.
IAS TACs are comprised of members selected from senior management positions within testing laboratories, calibration laboratories, inspection bodies, product certification agencies, governmental or regulatory organizations, or recognized technical experts. The TACs meet annually or more often as necessary to consider new or proposed revisions to IAS Accreditation Criteria, technical matters within the terms of reference of the specific TAC, conformity assessment issues, rules of procedure or other subjects related to IAS accreditation as requested by IAS management.
