IAS/CPSE Fire Prevention Technical Advisory Council Meets

The joint International Accreditation Service (IAS)/Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE) Technical Advisory Council (TAC) — Fire Prevention Departments (FPD) held a webinar on May 29, 2013. This TAC was formed in 2010 and was tasked with development of the Accreditation Criteria for Fire Prevention and Life Safety Departments (AC426). The alpha client to be accredited to AC426 was the Florida Bureau of Fire Prevention; the Tinley Park, Ill., Fire Prevention Bureau was the second. The TAC now provides IAS input on fire prevention industry developments and potential FPD program enhancements.

TACs members include Chair Ronny J. Coleman, Martin King, West Allis, Wis., Ian MacDonald, Orange, Calif., Alan Perdue, Greensboro, N.C., Daniel Riordan, Tinley Park, Ill., and Casia Sinco, Tallahassee, Fla. During the meeting, IAS staff provided an overview of recent and upcoming events in the FPD program. The TAC as a whole discussed next steps for the ongoing growth and recognition of the FPD program.
