Melanie Adams, JD, appointed in April of this year, is the newest member of the IAS Board of Directors. Melanie is the Building Director for the city of Hillsboro, Ore., a city of over 90,000 in the heart of the Silicon Forest. A former trial attorney and teacher, Melanie has 15 years of diverse public-sector experience and has served as a municipal building official since 2007. A veteran of board service, Melanie brings considerable experience leading public-sector organizational innovation and change.

Only the second woman to serve as President of the Oregon Building Officials Association since it was created in 1975, her Oregon colleagues named her Building Official of the Year in 2012. IAS extends a hearty welcome to Melanie Adams in her new role and looks forward to the good work that she, side by side with our current Directors, will be undertaking to keep IAS successful and growing.

IAS would also like to thank and welcome two new appointees: Marshall Doyle of Cal-Cert Company has recently been appointed to the IAS Technical Advisory Council for Laboratories and Sajid Raza of Butler Engineering is newly appointed to the IAS Technical Advisory Council for Inspections. We are grateful for their time and for the expertise they bring to these councils.
