IAS exhibited at the 17th annual Food Safety Summit, April 28-30, at the Baltimore Convention Center. IAS provided information for attendees about IAS accreditation programs that support the needs of food regulatory and industry professionals, including testing laboratories, calibration laboratories, inspection agencies, product certification agencies, and management system and personnel certification bodies.

Food safety professionals from around the world convened at the conference to discuss issues facing the food industry, including food fraud, the Food Safety Modernization Act and the integration of the nation's food safety systems. The event kicked off on Monday, April 27 with two certification programs for HACCP and Seafood HACCP.

Attendees had the opportunity to participate in workshops and informative sessions and to network with over 150 vendors who showcased specialty products and services designed to help food safety professionals do their job more effectively and efficiently. Major regulatory leaders in the industry included Mike Taylor of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Al Amanza of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Joe Corby of the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO) and Chris Braden of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Senior operations executives from Chiquita Brands, Hormel Brands and The Cheesecake Factory shared their insights on departmental cooperation with industry professionals who attended and benefited from this important event.
