Letter from the president.

I look back upon the year 2015 with a deep sense of satisfaction and pride for IAS, which not only accomplished its stated goals but exceeded them in many areas. IAS crossed the 800 mark of accredited entities at the beginning of the year and the influx of new clientele kept up throughout the entire year. This, coupled with a near-perfect renewal rate of existing clients, points out a vibrant organization that is assured of a very bright future. Read more.

Second Governmental Food and Feed Laboratories Accreditation meeting.

IAS Quality Manager Mohan Sabaratnam presented on root cause analysis at the 2nd Governmental Food and Feed Laboratories Accreditation meeting in Louisville, Ky. The meeting aimed to provide training on topics of interest to laboratories performing food and feed testing who are working to achieve ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation. In the effort to establish national laboratory standards and implement a national fully integrated food safety system, laboratory accreditation has been identified as a critical element for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the laboratory testing.

Special thanks to Tom Phillips.

In 2005, Thomas (Tom) J. Phillips, CBO, then building official for the city of Salem, Ore., attended a training session for IAS's newly developed building department accreditation program in Henderson, Nev., where he met IAS President Chuck Ramani. That brief meeting was the spark that brought Phillips and his exceptional knowledge and leadership skills to the IAS community. Soon after that meeting, Ramani asked Phillips to serve on the IAS Accreditation Committee.
