The IAS staff said goodbye to three important, long-standing employees in 2015. Vice President and Chief Technical Officer Patrick McCullen, Accreditation Manager John Pakianadan, and Manager of Special Projects Nancy Libby announced their retirement and were honored during a special retirement dinner on Dec. 15, 2015, at the Embassy Suites in Brea, Calif.

Patrick McCullen retired on Dec. 31, 2015, after 25 years of service. He started his career with legacy code organization International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO) in 1990, and along with Libby and Pakianadan was a member of the original IAS staff that began in 2002. Known for his wit, he could be relied on for a much-needed laugh; more importantly, he could always be trusted to answer any technical question stemming from thorough research and experience.

John Pakianadan retired on Dec. 31, 2015, after 24 years of service. He started his career with ICBO in 1991, and was one of the original staff members when IAS officially opened their doors. Known for his gracious and kind demeanor, he was a calming presence in the office and brought assured and steady knowledge to the field while on assessment.

Nancy Libby retired on Nov. 30, 2015, after 28 years of service. She first started her career with ICBO in 1987, and was one of the original staff members when IAS began operations as a subsidiary of ICBO in December 2002. Known for her meticulous attention to detail and comprehensive knowledge on an array of company projects, she was the "backbone" for IAS board, IAS committee members and IAS staff.

Pat McCullen, John Pakianadan and Nancy Libby are all highly respected and have been dedicated to the IAS vision throughout these many years. IAS has greatly benefited from their collective contributions in the office and within the industry. Each have played an integral role in the success of the business and making IAS what it is today — the leading accreditation body in the United States. Their leadership and camaraderie will be missed.
