The International Halal Accreditation Forum (IHAF) is an independent, non-government network of accreditation entities all mandated to enforce halal standards in their countries and regions. Empowered by its aim to protect the growing number of halal consumers and to facilitate international trade, IHAF establishes a solid ground for the global industry of halal food and non-food products.

IHAF objectives are:

  • Create harmonization of the accreditation practices and procedures that are related to conformity assessment in the field of halal.
  • Provide a system for mutual recognition between member accreditation bodies to facilitate international trade in the field of halal.
  • Develop conformity assessment systems in the field of halal, through the development of research and studies.
  • Support members and provide assistance in building their infrastructure of conformity assessment to meet the needs of all interested parties who wish to obtain specialized testing services, inspection services and certification services in the field of halal.
  • Cooperate with regional and international parties that have common goals.
Statistics show that the halal food market alone is projected to rise to $1.6 trillion by 2020 and trade volume for overall halal food and lifestyle sector, which was $1.8 trillion in 2014, is projected to cross $2.6 trillion by year 2020.
