EduCode 2015 features more than
80 training and education courses.

For the 18th year, the Southern Nevada Chapter of ICC hosted EduCode 2015 in Las Vegas. This year's event — which included more than 80 training and education courses for building and fire officials, architects, designers and others in the construction and fire industry — was conducted by the Chapter under its new designation of being an ICC Preferred Provider.

"This year was a record setting conference for EduCode," explained Alan Ellis of the city of Henderson, Nev., who served as chair and instructor coordinator for the event. "We received numerous phone calls and emails from individuals interested in the variety of courses offered but wanted to verify that EduCode's courses were ICC Preferred Provider qualified. We have prided ourselves in providing top quality courses from nationally known instructors and having our courses 'Preferred Provider' qualified took us to the next level of quality and professionalism!

"All of the feedback that we have received has been positive," Ellis continued. "Participants in this year's conference indicated that the Preferred Provider Program has stepped up training to provide more professional and beneficial training. The positive feedback has been tremendous."

Since 1998, EduCode has provided an annual weeklong training conference for code officials and industry representatives. This year's education program included Significant Changes to the 2012 and 2015 International Codes, Engineering and Design of Post Tensioned Concrete, 2015 IBC Practical Occupancy Classification, The Complete Permit Technician, Combination Inspections of Commercial Structures, and Wood Engineering Design and Specification. Attendees were able to earn 0.8 CEUs for full-day courses and 0.4 CEUs for half-day courses.

"The Southern Nevada Chapter of ICC has been active in providing training seminars for the past 18 years," Ellis said. "ICC's Preferred Provider Program has enabled us to take our training to the next level in professionalism, quality and employee development. We consider ICC as a valuable partner in the training, education and quality of our training conference."
