Recognizing positive membership sentiment, outstanding financial performance and the successful execution of strategic initiatives, outgoing ICC Board of Directors President Guy Tomberlin announced during the Annual Business Meeting in Long Beach, Calif., that the board unanimously agreed to extend the contract of Chief Executive Officer Dominic Sims, CBO for an additional five years.

"We recognize that stability is an important ingredient to success," Tomberlin said. "One of our first orders of business this year was to extend our CEO's contract, and I am thrilled to be able to announce that to the membership."

Sims was named ICC CEO in 2013 and previously held the positions of Chief Operating Officer, Executive Vice President and Director of Operations for the association. He has served in numerous positions in the building safety industry since 1983, including as CEO of the legacy organization Southern Building Code Congress International. He is the former Executive Director of the Palm Beach County, Fla., Planning, Zoning and Building Department.

"In every aspect of our business, the Code Council has found ways to improve service to our Members, increase its participation or relevance in the industry, and substantially improve the financial performance of the association and its subsidiaries," Sims said. "This has been no small feat, but with the commitment of a dedicated board, the skill of our professional staff, and the passion of our 57,000 Members, ICC's position as the preeminent association for building safety professionals has never been better.

"But success has to have a purpose," Sims continued. "For us, that purpose is the mission of the Code Council, helping our Members serve their communities and clients better and enhance their careers, and helping the world be a safer place in the built environment. I look forward to continuing our work to transform ICC into a more relevant, information- and knowledge-based organization that will continue to succeed in today's ever-changing business world while staying true to our core functions and purpose.

"ICC is on a great trajectory to continue being the association you turn to for support, raising the profile of our profession, and being an effective tool for building and fire safety. I am so proud to be a part of a group of professionals who hold public safety in such high regard."
