International Code Council Chief Executive Officer Dominic Sims, CBO, has been commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel by Gov. Steve Beshear. The Kentucky Colonel is the highest honor bestowed by the commonwealth and is given to individuals in recognition of their noteworthy accomplishments and outstanding service to a community, state or the nation. Other notable Kentucky Colonels include former Presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush, former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, racing legends Mario Andretti and Richard Petty, and entertainers Ann Margaret, Rosemary Clooney, and Elvis Presley.

Sims was presented his commission by ICC Board of Directors President Alex "Cash" Olszowy during the Code Administrators Association of Kentucky (CAAK) Fall Education Conference held in Bowling Green, Ky. Donald Summers of Henderson, Ky., was named Code Administrator of the Year while Tony Thomas of Elizabethtown, Ky., was honored as Patron of the Year.
