ANSI re-accredits ICC standards development.

ICC publishes and administers the development of several standards including the A117.1 Accessibility Standard, the ICC/NSSA Standard for the Design and Construction of Storm Shelters, the Standard for Residential Construction in High-Wind Regions, the Landscape Irrigation Sprinkler and Emitter Standard, and the Standard on the Design and Construction of Log Structures. ICC will also be publishing standards for the newest member of the ICC family of companies, the Solar Rating & Certification Corporation, SRCC Standards 100 and 300.

The International Code Council has been re-accredited for its ANSI Standard Development activities under the ICC Consensus Procedures. The ANSI audit covers the development of ICC standards completed since the last audit in 2009. It includes a review of all documentation related to the ICC Consensus Procedures and the ANSI Essential Requirements.

The audit report states ICC:

     • Makes substantial efforts to resolve all comments/objections and ensure that consensus is achieved.
     • Conducts consensus ballots and public review concurrently, shortening the time required to approve a standard.
     • Has an oversight body charged with providing a review of proposed standards development activities.
     • Has a well-developed system for tracking and managing the standards development process.
     • Effectively uses its website to provide information about its standards and standards development process.
     • Has an appeals policy. There have been no appeals to ICC of the ICC American National Standards during the audit period.
     • Participates on ANSI boards and councils, such as ANSI Organization Member Forum, Electric Vehicles Standards Panel and Energy Efficiency Standards Coordination Collaborative.
     • ICC is competent and knowledgeable concerning its standards development process and ANSI requirements.
