The California Energy Commission adopted water efficiency standards on April 8, 2015, to require toilets, urinals, public lavatory faucets, lavatory faucets, and kitchen faucets to consume less water. On August 12, 2015, the Energy Commission amended its lavatory faucet standard to modify the effective dates to allow more time for manufacturers to meet the new standard and amended its showerhead standard to lower the maximum flow rate and require certain minimum flow rates. read more >>

Codes and Standards International (CSI) has been tapped to spearhead a USAID-funded, large-scale and detailed project in Haiti to adopt and adapt plumbing codes and standards. Water heater explosions from the past.

The improper installation of a water heater can cause significant damage. The 2015 International Plumbing Code in Section 504.6 lists the requirements for discharge piping serving a pressure relief valve, temperature relief valve or a combination. In Section 504.6 #11 the threaded end on the termination of a relief valve discharge pipe is prohibited, as this would be an invitation for someone to screw on a cap or valve to stop water from from dripping from the pipe. What might be perceived as a repair would, in reality, create a very dangerous condition. read more >>
