ICC Ad Hoc Committee for Tall Wood Buildings.

In December 2015, the International Code Council (ICC) Board established the ICC Ad Hoc Committee for Tall Wood Buildings (AHC-TWB) noting the purpose of the ad hoc committee is to the explore the building science of tall wood buildings based on the following parameters:

  • The scope is to investigate the feasibility of, and take action on, developing code changes for tall wood buildings.
  • The ad hoc committee will follow the established procedures in Council Policy 7 Committees and Members and will be funded by the Code Council.
  • ICC will be responsible for funding meeting costs and reimbursement of eligible expenses for ad hoc committee members who are ICC Governmental Member Representatives.
  • ICC will investigate possible partnerships in this effort.
  • The Board-appointed ad hoc committee will include the necessary balance of stakeholders, with additional opportunities for interested parties to participate in work groups.
  • The effort will continue through the 2018/2019/2020 cycle.
As noted above, this committee will include the necessary balance of stakeholders, including:

  • Representatives from building construction material industries
  • Building and fire officials
  • Architects and engineers
  • Fire protection experts
  • Other construction-related stakeholders
The acronym below is to be used to identify the ICC Ad Hoc Committee for Tall Wood Buildings on the application.

AHC-TWB ICC Ad Hoc Committee for Tall Wood Buildings

Travel required. It is anticipated that the AHC-TWB will hold two-to-four, two-day meetings per year. ICC Governmental Member Representatives are authorized to travel at ICC's expense when participating at AHC-TWB meetings. All others are responsible for funding their participation on this committee.

Term: Term expires upon completion of the activity, which is slated to end with the conclusion of the 2018/2019/2020 Cycle and the respective code change activity associated with these cycles.
