The International Code Council Board of Directors met at the beginning of December in San Antonio, Texas, and worked diligently and thoroughly for its Membership. On Dec. 8, the Board conducted a successful workshop featuring a presentation from Mike Conduff, co-author of The OnTarget Board Member: 8 Indisputable Behaviors. The next day, the Board held an enthusiastic meeting where several major-interest items were approved:

1. Promoting the Value of the Code Official Initiative.
  • The Code Council will engage in an initiative during FY 2017 to raise positive community awareness of Code Officials by promoting their important role and value to community leaders and the public. Some elements of this initiative include:
  • Develop a power point presentation with a simple yet compelling message identifying why Code Officials are important to the safety and economic vitality of our communities. The target audience for the presentation shall be local, regional, state and national municipal associations.
  • Develop a children's educational toolkit promoting the Code Official as an important community leader who helps to keep them safe. The target audience for the toolkit shall be schools and children's civic organizations (boy scouts, girl scouts, etc.).
  • Develop a three minute promotional video highlighting the value of the Code Official, targeting government officials and the general public.
2. New appointments to the IAS Board of Directors and ICC Foundation Board of Directors.
