Once updated, the Saudi Building Code will improve building safety, trade and innovation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The agreement reflects the longstanding relationship and collaboration between the Code Council and the SBCNC which dates more than 20 years.

The agreement provides the SBCNC with access to the 2015 editions of ICC's International Building Code, International Plumbing Code, International Mechanical Code, International Fire Code, International Residential Code, International Private Sewage Disposal Code, International Fuel Gas Code, International Existing Building Code, International Energy Code, International Swimming Pool and Spa Code, International Property Maintenance Code, International Zoning Code, International Wildland-Urban Interface Code, International Code Council Performance Code for Buildings and Facilities, and International Green Construction Code.

Discussions also focused on the importance of infrastructure needed for successful implementation of codes including training, product certification and conformity assessment. Both parties reaffirmed the importance of their partnership and desire to further build on the foundation that has been established.

"The Code Council is pleased to support the efforts of the SBCNC to update its codes to reflect the latest features in building safety, sustainability and affordability," said Dwayne Garriss, President, International Code Council Board of Directors. "The SBCNC is delighted to see that both our organizations' efforts have been crowned in the signing of this important agreement," said SBCNC General Secretary Ahmad Al-Turki, PhD. "This agreement will confirm and establish further scientific and cognitive exchange, scientific research reports, development of techniques and professional qualification and to serve those concerned in the building and construction industry as well as to improve and develop the building and construction sector.
