WaterSense hits milestone of 2.1 trillion gallons of water saved

Since the launch of WaterSense in 2006, WaterSense and its nearly 2,000 partners have surpassed 2.1 trillion gallons in water savings. How much water is that? It is greater than the amount of water used by all U.S. households for 75 days! WaterSense transformed U.S. water efficiency in a decade.

In addition to water savings, WaterSense-labeled products reduce the energy needed to heat water used for cleaning, showering and shaving. WaterSense helped cut the amount of energy needed to heat, pump and treat water by 284 billion kilowatt hours. That's enough to supply power to more than 26.3 million homes for a year! That's a savings of $46.3 billion in water and energy costs.

The International Code Council supports the WaterSense program, and ICC Evaluation Service is a licensed provider of WaterSense certifications and works with plumbing manufacturers to evaluate their company's WaterSense products.
