ICC invited to participate in bilateral roundtable with India

On Oct. 27, ICC participated in a roundtable launching the second phase of the U.S.-India Standards and Conformance Cooperation Program. The roundtable, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry, brought together leading standards development organizations from both countries to discuss aspects of three core sectors of U.S.-India trade: clean energy, water and sanitation, and smart and sustainable cities.

At the roundtable, ICC representative Justin Wiley, vice president of government relations, discussed the critical roles building safety, efficiency and sustainability play in the three identified sectors.

During the next 18 months, phase two of the program will convene six workshops for government and industry representatives to share ideas about standards and conformity assessment practices and promote trade between countries. The workshops will be administered by the Confederation of Indian Industry and the American National Standards Institute.
