ICC-SRCC began work in 2015 on a new standard setting minimum requirements for solar pool heating and cooling systems. This work continues in 2016 with partner organizations the International Code Council (ICC) and the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals (APSP). While SRCC Standard 100 addresses unglazed collectors commonly used in solar pool heating systems, SRCC Standard 300 does not address solar pool heating systems. To meet the need for minimum requirements for these systems, ICC-SRCC, ICC and APSP partnered to produce a consensus standard seeking ANSI approval, like the new Standard 100 and 300 documents.

The scope of the new standard will include direct and indirect solar thermal systems used to heat and/or cool pools and spas in commercial and residential installations. The draft standard is under development and the consensus committee meets periodically via conference call and webinar to continue development. As with all ICC-SRCC standards, committee calls are open to all interested stakeholders. Visit the project page at for more information. You can also sign up for the Interested Parties List to receive updates and announcements on upcoming meetings. For any other questions, contact SRCC at standards@solar-rating.org.

The committee expects to release a Public Comment Draft for official public comment later this year.
