The California Building Standards Commission (CBSC) concluded the 2007 Annual Code Cycle in October. Codified items amending the 2007 California Building and Fire Codes will be available at the end of this year. The next CBSC meeting is scheduled for January 22‚ 2009. |

New CEC Title 24 Training Available |
The California Energy Commission (CEC) is developing an online Title 24 Building Energy Efficiency Standards training program. Available to anyone‚ this Learning Management System (LMS) will be used primarily to educate building department professionals on the 2008 Standards to improve enforcement efforts and compliance results. Designed to directly address the needs and specific areas of responsibilities of key building department employees‚ the LMS will be free to users and available online for remote access 24/7. |

Membership Structure Changes for 2009
Updated Member Categories and Dues |
The Code Council will significantly change its membership structure beginning January 2009. These changes will simplify some member categories‚ and help balance annual dues for individual categories with those for groups. The following are a few examples of the new changes: |

- Cooperating and Professional Member categories will combine into one new Building Safety Professional category. The annual dues will decrease to $100 from $150.
- Corporate Member category annual dues will increase to $350 from $300.
- ICC Chapters can save with a new bulk membership plan.
