Convention Center. CODE DEVELOPMENT NEWS CDRAC Recommendations Adopted with Two Amendments The Code Development Review Ad-Hoc Committee (CDRAC) presented an overview of activities to the Code Council Board of Directors, and the Board adopted all CDRAC recommendations along with two additional recommendations from the Code Appeals Board not addressed in the CDRAC report. The additions require stakeholder disclosure of scholarship offers in conjunction with the applicable hearing and establish a written policy limiting committee member communication with code change stakeholder interests before and during hearings. CODE DEVELOPMENT NEWS Proposal Forms Available for Download Forms for public proposals to the International Codes during the 2012/2013 Code Development Cycle are available for download. Closing dates are January 3, 2012, for the Group A Codes and January 3, 2013, for the Group B Codes. ![]() FEATURE ARTICLES ICC, Codes Support Wildfire Prevention As wildfires threaten large portions of the United States each year, the International Code Council continues to play an instrumental role in combating this growing problem. Since 2005, the Code Council has worked closely with international, national and state groups and organizations to promote the adoption and enforcement of the International Wildland Urban Interface Code. In 2008, ICC spearheaded the first National Blue Ribbon Panel review of wildland urban interface problems, and just last year ICC established and sponsored the development of the National Wildland Urban Interface Council. Click to continue. Geography of the Wildland Urban Interface There are more than 220 million acres in the United States that have been designated as high risk for wildland urban interface fire. Since 1990, the conversion-growth rate of wildlands to wildland urban interface has reached unprecedented levels in the U.S. at an average of two million acres per year, 4,000 acres per day and three acres per minute. Click to continue. ![]() CODE DEVELOPMENT NEWS ICC Ad Hoc Committee on Healthcare Holds First Meeting The Code Council Board of Directors approved the creation of an ad hoc committee to comprehensively review and update the provisions in the International Codes relative to both new and existing hospitals and ambulatory care facilities. The new Ad Hoc Committee on Healthcare was formed in cooperation with the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE). The committee met this month and its next meeting is scheduled for Oct. 5-6 in Chicago. Click to continue. CODE DEVELOPMENT NEWS Terry Named Chair of New Codes and Standards Council; Kraus to Serve as Vice Chair The Code Council Board of Directors appointed a new Codes and Standards Council (CSC) representing stakeholders across several disciplines, as well as representatives to new discipline-specific Membership Councils. The CSC was apointed to review and approve new codes and standards projects, advise the ICC Board regarding committee appointments, and review code development policies and procedures. John Terry of the State of New Jersey was named Chair of the CSC and Ken Kraus of the Los Angeles Fire Department was named Vice Chair. View the committee roster.
