Hearings First Step to Developing 2015 I-Codes
During Code Development Hearings April 29-May 8 in Dallas, code enforcement officials, other construction industry professionals and the public will convene to begin the development of the 2015 International Codes. View the Group A proposed changes to the International Building, Fuel Gas, Mechanical, Plumbing and Private Sewage Disposal Codes. The Hearings Schedule for Group A also is available online.

More than 540 Registered for Dallas Events
More than 540 delegates are registered for the 2012 Code Development Hearings April 29-May 8 in Dallas. Other scheduled events include ICC Membership Council meetings, a presentation on cdp ACCESS Expanding Code Development Participation, and a walking tour of the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium. During the 2012 Code Development Hearings in Dallas, Code Council Voting Members will consider proposed changes to the Group A Codes, including more than 140 proposals submitted by the ICC Code Action Committees.

CACs Submit 146 Code Change Proposals for Dallas Hearings; More Expected for Group B Codes
In an effort to create additional opportunities for participation in the ICC Code Development Process, for the 2012/2013 Code Cycle and going forward, the Code Council Board of Directors established four Code Action Committees covering all of the International Codes. The CACs – Building (BCAC), Fire (FCAC), Plumbing, Mechanical & Fuel Gas (PMGCAC), and Sustainability, Energy & High Performance (SEHCAC) – have held multiple meetings to review the 2012 I-Codes and develop code change proposals for the 2015 editions. TECH BRIEFS
New Pool and Spa Code now available. The nation's leading code and pool safety organizations joined together to publish the International Swimming Pool and Spa Code. It is the first comprehensive code to upgrade pool and spa safety, and meet the requirements of the Virginia Graeme Baker Act. The ISPSC uses prescriptive and performance-related provisions to establish minimum safety requirements for public and residential pools, spas and hot tubs.

ICC unveils the International Green Construction Code. The 2012 IgCC is the path to safe, sustainable, economical construction. The model code for constructing and remodeling buildings is expected to make buildings more efficient, reduce waste, and have a positive impact on health, safety and community welfare. The IgCC will increase the energy-efficiency of structures, while providing direction and oversight of green design and construction.

Industry Advisory Committee meets in Washington, D.C.
The Code Council's Industry Advisory Committee convened on March 12 in Washington, D.C. This committee, comprised of representatives of the leading companies involved in the construction industry, meets triennially to discuss a broad range of issues associated with the built environment. Consensus Committee on Storm Shelters considers public proposals. The ICC Consensus Committee on Storm Shelters (IS-STM) met by teleconference in March for the committee to consider public proposals that have been submitted on the 2008 edition of the ICC 500 Standard in response to the call-for-proposal period. Read the meeting notice.

Draft of guideline available for public comment. The Society of Fire Protection Engineers, in collaboration with the Code Council, has released the draft of the Guidelines for Designing Fire Safety in Very Tall Buildings for public comment. The submission deadline for public comments is June 8.

Deadline is July 2 for proposals to ICC/ANSI A117.1-09 – Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities. The ICC Consensus Committee on Accessible and Usable Building and Facilities will be developing the next edition of the ANSI A117.1-09 standard. Suggested revisions or additions can be submitted to the ICC by completing the public proposal form.
