Support for IGCC Builds Momentum toward
First Code Committee Meeting

The Code Council's International Green Construction Code (IGCC) received support from influential and leading industry organizations, including the U.S. Green Building Council and the Green Building Initiative, as the code's developing committee prepared for its first meeting in Chicago. more>>

IGCC First Draft Expected in April 2010

Members of the Code Council Sustainable Building Technology Committee (SBTC) began developing the first draft of the International Green Construction Code (IGCC) last week in Chicago. ICC to Develop Swimming Pool Code

The Code Council Board of Directors voted to develop the nation's first Comprehensive Swimming Pool Code. This action, taken during the Board’s mid-year meeting in Dallas, is designed to provide a coordinated code with other International Codes that will meet the requirements of the Virginia Graeme Baker Act and upgrade pool safety. The code will be developed with the support of the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals. more>>



ICC Board Proposes Bylaws Changes for Governmental Member Status, Voting

The Code Council Board of Directors voted to forward proposed bylaws changes to Articles II, X and XVIII to a full vote of the membership commencing with the Annual Business Meeting in Baltimore, Maryland, on November 3. The proposed changes include language regarding Governmental Members and their Voting Privileges. Pictured at the mid-year meeting in Dallas are Board members Cindy Davis and John LaTorra. more>>



ABM Scheduled for November 3

The Annual Business Meeting (ABM) will be held on November 3 in conjunction with the 2009 ICC Annual Conference in Baltimore. The ABM will feature the elections of officers and directors to the Board, reports from Board President Adolf Zubia (pictured left) and CEO Rick Weiland, considerations of proposed bylaw changes, and more. The Board also will meet on October 31 and November 5.



Stimulus Package Aimed at Attending Conference, Code Hearings on a Budget

The Code Council is offering a stimulus package so members and other stakeholders can attend the 2009 Annual Conference and Code Development Hearings on a tight budget. A nominal registration fee includes education sessions, a welcome reception and six meals over four days. Members can save $65 when they enroll before September 1; non-members save $60. more>>

 

  Let's Enforce and Not Reinvent the Wheel

Code Council CEO Richard P. Weiland urged enforcement of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) in a letter to the New York Times that was published on Friday. Weiland’s letter was in response to an article that failed to mention the existence of the IECC, but did advocate a national building code as a key for getting greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption under control. more>>
