Code Council Corporate Members Receive Important Code Development Hearings Information

Code Council Corporate Members were recently mailed information regarding the upcoming Code Development Hearings on October 24-31 and November 4-11, 2009, in Baltimore, Maryland.

A notice was sent to clarify how an ICC Corporate Member organization may participate in Code Development Hearings. According to Section 5.7.4 of ICC Council Policy 28, "All members of ICC in attendance at the public hearing shall be eligible to vote on floor motions. Only one vote [is] authorized for each eligible attendee." For the purpose of floor motions, a Corporate Member organization is considered one member, regardless of how many representatives of that Corporate Member attend.

Any Corporate Member organization wishing to vote on floor motions should have one designated voter in attendance at the Code Development Hearings.

Unless otherwise notified, ICC staff will assume the designated voter for each Corporate Member organization will be the primary contact on file for that member. Each Corporate Member organization is responsible for ensuring the primary contact on file is correct. If an employee other than the primary contact of the Corporate Member organization is attending as a voter, ICC staff must be informed no later than Wednesday, October 14, 2009.
