New Green Construction Code Unveiled

The International Code Council announced the release of Public Version 1.0 of the International Green Construction Code (IGCC) to regulate construction of new and existing commercial buildings. The IGCC aims to significantly reduce energy usage and greenhouse gasses. It addresses site development and land use, including preservation of natural and material resources. The Code Council and original IGCC Cooperating Sponsors—American Institute of Architects (AIA) and ASTM International—have been joined by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and the Illuminating Engineers Society (IES) in a first-of-its-kind collaboration to boost critical green building practices across the country... click to continue

Download Public Version 1.0 of the New International Green Construction Code

The International Green Construction Code (IGCC) Public Version 1.0 is available as a resource document to guide adoption activities at a global level. Free access to download the latest member of the ICC Family of International Codes is available here. Public Version 1.0 will continue to be refined through ICC’s Governmental Consensus Process. Final Action Hearings Schedule
Now Available

Building safety advocates will consider several hundred code changes during the ICC Final Action Hearings in Dallas, Texas, May 15-23. The Spring 2010 Group A Final Action Hearings schedule is now available. While preregistration is not mandatory, it is in the best interest of ICC voting members to register in advance and have their voting credentials verified prior to arriving in Dallas.


Weiland: Seismic Provisions Needed along U.S. New Madrid Fault Line

Following recent earthquakes in Chile and Turkey, and the devastating 7.1 quake in Haiti, ICC CEO Rick Weiland says seismic provisions are needed along the U.S. New Madrid Fault Line. Weiland explains: "We call on high-hazard communities in the U.S. to remain committed to the strongest possible building codes as the most effective and economic line of defense against disasters." more>>


2010 ICC Awards Call for Nominations

Nominations are being accepted for the ICC Awards to be presented at the 2010 ICC Annual Conference, October 25–28 in Charlotte, North Carolina. ICC Awards will be presented in several categories to honor individuals and organizations for their accomplishments and service to ICC and the building safety industry.
