Support Grows for Coalition for
Current Safety Codes

More than 140 code officials, fire officers, architects, plan reviewers, organizations and businesses have shown their support for the Coalition for Current Safety Codes, and the number is growing daily. The coalition is advancing public safety in the built environment by advocating states and municipal jurisdictions adopt current building, fire prevention, sustainable, electrical and life safety codes. The alliance was formed by the International Code Council and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
"We are never done with the work of protecting our homes, businesses and other structures," said NFPA President Jim Shannon (pictured right) and ICC CEO Rick Weiland (left) in a joint statement. "For more than 100 years, building codes in the U.S. have evolved to incorporate critical safeguards for building occupants based on the most current building science, and they must be continually improved. This initiative is advancing public safety by advocating for the adoption of current building, sustainability, electrical and life safety codes."
