New I-Codes Now Available
for Adoption and Enforcement

The two newest additions to the International Family of Codes, the "International Green Construction Code" (IgCC) and the "International Swimming Pool and Spa Code" (ISPSC), are now available for jurisdictions to adopt and enforce.
The 2012 International Green Construction Code is the path to safe, sustainable and economical construction. The model code for constructing and remodeling buildings is expected to make buildings more efficient, reduce waste, and have a positive impact on health, safety and community welfare. The IgCC will increase the energy-efficiency of structures, while providing direction and oversight of green design and construction.
The nation's leading code and pool safety organizations joined together to publish the International Swimming Pool and Spa Code (ISPSC). It is the first comprehensive code to upgrade pool and spa safety, and meet the requirements of the Virginia Graeme Baker Act. The ISPSC uses prescriptive and performance-related provisions to establish minimum safety requirements for public and residential pools, spas and hot tubs.

Disaster Response Network Set to Support Storm-Damaged Communities

The Code Council extends its support to communities recently affected by the series of severe weather in Texas. Jurisdictions in need of assistance can access the Disaster Response Network, a database of volunteers available to assist with building damage assessment, inspections and other code-related functions. Jurisdictions also can call the Disaster Support Hotline at 888-ICC-SAFE (422-7233), ext. 5222. More information is available on the front page of the ICC website. Click on the "Disaster Network" tab in the "ICC Important Information" section.
