Significant Code Changes to the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code

This is a new requirement for all radiant floor slabs. The bottom floor slab must be insulated to an R-3.5 minimum corresponding to Table C403.2.8, Minimum Pipe Insulation.

Masonry and stone veneer have attachment requirements and prescriptive limitations based on the assigned seismic design category. In general, veneer may extend up to three stories and 30 feet high with a maximum thickness of 5 inches and maximum weight of 50 psf.

Ambulatory care facilities, classified as Group B occupancies, are generally regarded as moderate in hazard level due to their office-like conditions. Stories containing ambulatory care facilities having more than 10,000 square feet of floor area must be subdivided into at least two smoke compartments by smoke barriers. Additionally, Group B ambulatory care facilities must be provided with an automatic sprinkler system when certain conditions exist.
