| ICC Preferred Provider Program Launches in November The ICC Preferred Provider Program (PPP) will soon be accepting applications from education providers interested in becoming Preferred Providers. Users can review courses available from approved Preferred Providers in November as soon as the PPP Website is live. The goal of PPP is to provide training opportunities related to codes, standards and guidelines as well as building construction materials, products and methods. The ICC Preferred Provider Network provides quality training courses approved for ICC CEUs, which can be used toward ICC certification renewal. | Enhanced Options for the 2015 ICC Chapter Education Benefit Beginning in 2015, ICC Chapters will have even more options available to use their chapter education benefit. Chapters will now receive an education voucher good for either one-day of training through an ICC Preferred Provider or one-day of ICC training. Chapters may choose one day of training from ICC's flexible training options (as listed under Hire ICC to Teach). Seminars are available in the STANDARD, FLEX or PREMIUM categories. The PowerPoint program will be offered free of charge as a PDF that can be distributed to attendees. ICC's commitment to serving Chapters and delivering flexible training options is enhanced with the launch of the Preferred Provider Program. Chapters may use their voucher for one day of Preferred Provider training (up to a $1,200 value). Chapters using Preferred Providers will hire and pay the provider directly and submit invoice or receipt and the reimbursement form to ICC's Training and Education department for reimbursement. | ICC Sunsetting Several National Certification Exams To better serve Code Council Members and customers, ICC's Certification & Testing department will sunset or combine several National Certification examinations. The G2 IgCC Commercial Inspector, G3 IgCC Commercial Inspector with ASHRAE 189.1, G4 IgCC Plans Examiner and G5 IgCC Plans Examiner with ASHRAE 189.1 will sunset at the end of 2014. A new exam titled "IgCC Inspector/Plans Examiner with ASHRAE 189" will cover the topics of the four exams being retired, and will begin testing on January 1, 2015. The EA Commercial Energy Inspector with ASHRAE 90.1 and EB Commercial Energy Plans Examiner with ASHRAE 90.1 will sunset at the end of 2014. A new exam titled "Commercial Energy Inspector/Plans Examiner with ASHRAE 90.1" will cover the topics of the two exams being retired, and will begin testing on January 1, 2015. The C1 Coastal Floodplain Construction Inspector exam will be available on the 2012 I-Codes until July 1, 2015. After July 1, only the 2015 version will be available. The 1C (Florida DBPR) version of the Coastal exam will see no changes. And the DR Disaster Response Inspector exam will be available on the 2012 I-Codes until July 1, 2015. After July 1, only the 2015 version will be available. Certified individuals can continue to renew the sunsetted certifications by completing the ICC Recertification process. These exams will become legacy certifications and will no longer be available as new certifications.
