Manufacturers are introducing products every day that they say are green or sustainable. Now‚ with a SAVE evaluation from ICC-ES‚ they can prove their claims are verified. The SAVE program provides independent confirmation that evaluated building products are sustainable and may qualify for points under major green rating systems. |

Evaluation Committee Revises Criteria |
During open public hearings‚ the ICC-ES Evaluation Committee considered new and revised Acceptance Criteria developed by ICC-ES technical staff in consultation with report applicants and with input from interested parties during its final meeting of the year October 21–22 in Albany‚ New York. Of the 21 items on the agenda‚ which included proposed revisions ranging from Acceptance Criteria for precast cementitious slurry structural member to new criteria for exterior wall coverings of steel-backed veneer panels attached to walls with steel framing and brackets‚ 16 were approved. 2009 Evaluation Committee Schedule |
New building products and technologies are constantly being developed. When there are no clear requirements in the code for new products and methods‚ the ICC-ES Evaluation Committee meets to approve Acceptance Criteria for the evaluation of new products. No registration is required to attend the meetings. Please visit our website for the 2009 meeting schedule and important deadlines. |

New Evaluation Reports Available |
ICC-ES Evaluation Reports—available free to code officials‚ contractors and anyone else with an interest in the construction industry—provide comprehensive technical evidence that products and systems are code compliant. Roseburg Forest Products Company‚ Elk Premium Building Products‚ Inc.‚ and Powers Fasteners‚ Inc.‚ are among the companies to receive ICC-ES Evaluation Reports during the last three months. The list of more than 130 recently published Evaluation Reports on innovative products includes the report number and name of each product recognized for code compliance. A complete list of ICC-ES Evaluation Reports also is available. |

How-To Guidelines for Report Holders |
Following the release of an ICC-ES Evaluation Report‚ the manufacturer of the product may use the ICC-ES mark and the report number to promote the product. ICC-ES guidelines explain proper use of the mark and other issues. Helpful information regarding product labeling can be found in the ID Section of each report and approval letter. Ram Gnanasekaran‚ ICC-ES Evaluation Specialist‚ has been awarded the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP) certification. The LEED AP accreditation‚ administered by the Green Building Certification Institute‚ recognizes building officials who have demonstrated an in-depth knowledge of green building practices and the LEED rating system. The LEED Rating System was established by the U.S. Green Building Council to certify green building design‚ construction and operations. |

International Delegation Learns
about ES Evaluation Process |
The International Code Council recently hosted a delegation from Russia’s Far East‚ Georgia and Ukraine to discuss building safety codes and energy efficiency. Code Council representatives provided an overview of the U.S. regulatory system and Council programs, including ICC-Evaluation Service programs. The delegation of 16 construction professionals learned about innovative construction techniques and energy efficiency design during their American tour to bring home new technology and management skills to their respective countries. The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) launched the newly expanded StandardsPortal‚ a tool to facilitate trade by helping companies better understand standards and conformance-related technical market requirements they face in the U.S. and China. The International Code Council‚ and its ICC-ES subsidiary‚ is one of the organizations on the portal.
