New Acceptance Criteria for Anchor ICC-ES recently issued new acceptance criteria AC232 "Acceptance Criteria for Anchor Channels in Concrete Elements" for the qualification and design of anchor channels. An anchor channel is understood to be an approximately U-shaped steel bracket, either hot-rolled or cold-formed, provided with at least two headed anchors attached to the back of the channel. To be within the scope of AC232, anchor channels must be assembled in a manufacturing facility. The anchors must be attached to the channel in the plant and not in the field. |

Manufacturers Represented by CISPI Enjoy Recognition of Many people are unaware that today's cast iron soil pipes are made with almost 100-percent recycled content. The Cast Iron Soil Pipe Institute (CISPI), which represents three U.S. manufacturers of cast iron soil pipes and fittings (AB&I Foundry, Charlotte Pipe and Foundry Company and Tyler Pipe), chose ICC-ES to verify their products' green attributes and to get their "green" message out to code officials, architects, engineers and consumers. "One of our primary goals was to have everyone in the building industry understand how green our products really are. With the ICC-ES VARs, we not only get wide recognition, but we now have independent verification of the 'greenness' of our products," says Bill LeVan, CISPI Executive Vice President. |
Understanding Section 1703 of the IBC A product evaluation entity may mistakenly consider itself as an "approved agency" under section 1703 of the International Building Code (IBC) — even though the agency has not been designated as an approved agency by the local building official, as the IBC requires. According to the IBC, the approval is based on information provided to building officials by the agency. The building official then determines if the agency meets the applicable requirements of Section 1703. |
Moinian Named Senior Vice President ICC-ES ICC-ES is pleased to announce the promotion of Shahin Moinian, P.E., to ICC-ES Senior Vice President of ICC-ES Growth Strategies and Certification Programs.
