| ICC-ES Introduces Connect+ Customer Care Service |
Manufacturers who apply for an ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) Evaluation Report (ESR) or listing will receive enhanced, best-in-class customer care under the new Connect+ service. This valuable service will benefit new and existing ICC-ES report holders by offering a dedicated service team committed to customer satisfaction with answers to any questions applicants may have. | ISAT Blue Banger Hanger First to Be Evaluated to New AC446 Requirements |
The ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) has issued an evaluation report (ESR-3599) to International Seismic Application Technology (ISAT) for their Blue Banger Hanger. This is the first product to be evaluated to the new ICC-ES acceptance criteria for headed cast-in specialty inserts in concrete (AC446). The Blue Banger Hanger PIP poured-in-place and SDI steel deck cast-in-place headed inserts for use in cracked and uncracked concrete are alternatives to structural cast-in anchors under the 2012, 2009 and 2006 International Building Code and International Residential Code. | Soil Retention Products First to Obtain ESR to the 2015 I-Codes |
Soil Retention Products, Inc. successfully obtained its ICC-ES Evaluation Report (ESR-3073) for the Verdura Retaining Wall System to the 2015 International Building Code. The Verdura Retaining Wall System consists of modular concrete units used in the construction of segmental landscaping and retaining walls, with or without reinforced soil stabilized by horizontal layers of geosynthetic reinforcement (geogrid) materials. ESR-3073 also holds a 2013 California Building Code (CBC) supplement, which verifies they are in compliance with Chapter 18A (Soils and Foundations) of the CBC. Continue reading story |
| ICC-ES Issues New EPA Seal and Insulate with ENERGY STAR Certifications to BASF |
ICC Evaluation Service, a recognized Certification Body for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Seal and Insulate with ENERGY STAR program, has issued two EPA certification supplements to BASF Corporation. The products that have been issued the Energy Star certification are Enertite US and Enertite NM Open-Cell Spray Polyurethane Foam Insulations (ESR-3102) and BASF Corporation Spray-Applied Insulations: Spraytite (158, 178, 81205 and 81206); Comfort Foam (158 and 178); and Walltite (US and US-N) (ESR-2642). BASF Corporation's ESR-3102 and ESR-2642 also include supplements to the California Building Code, California Residential Code and the Florida Building Code. Continue reading story |
| Hamat Sanitary Fittings and Cast Receive Two New ICC-ES PMG Certifications |
The ICC-ES Plumbing, Mechanical and Fuel Gas (PMG) Listing Program has issued two new reports—PMG-1280 and PMG-1281—to Hamat Sanitary Fittings and Cast. ICC-ES has certified Hamat's plumbing supply fittings (PMG-1280) to the 2015, 2012, 2009 editions of the International Plumbing Code and International Residential Code. The products were also certified to the 2012 and 2009 Uniform Plumbing Codes and the 2010 and 2005 editions of the National Plumbing Code of Canada. "We are very pleased with Hamat's decision to certify their products with ICC-ES PMG. They are a major manufacturer in Israel and were looking to save money while obtaining reports known for their high quality and excellence that code official and inspectors in North America look for," said Dawn LaFleur Qualley, Program Director of ICC-ES PMG. | ICC-ES Evaluation Committee Considers More New Acceptance Criteria |
The ICC-ES Evaluation Committee considered new agenda items ranging from proposed new acceptance criteria for Exterior Ultra-high Performance Concrete Thin Wall Cladding Panels to proposed new acceptance criteria for Establishing Seismic Equivalency to Code-prescribed Light-frame Shear Walls along with several proposed revisions during its Oct. 14 meeting in Birmingham, Ala. Staff recognized distinguished committee members Michael Rickabaugh, CBO (Lake Buena Vista, Fla.) and William King, CBO, MCP (Alexandria, Va.) for their years of service on the committee. Sharon Goei, PE, CBO, LEED AP (Walnut Creek, Calif.) was also recognized for her service on the committee. Goei is now serving on the ICC-ES Board of Managers. |
| ICC-ES PMG Staff Reaches Many Interested Attendees at ASPE Convention |
The American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) celebrated its 50th anniversary during its 2014 convention held in September in Chicago. With nearly 5,000 in attendance, the ICC-ES PMG staff met with many manufacturers interested in ICC-ES PMG certification. The convention had 675 exhibitors. The show highlights innovations in plumbing system design, and offers a variety of continuing education opportunities. This was the third time ICC-ES PMG has had a presence, and staff was pleased with the amount of traffic at the booth. Many current clients as well as new applicants stopped by at the booth and discussed matters related to new reports as well as revisions and additions to their current reports. |
| New ICC-ES Board of Managers Hold First Meeting in Florida |
The new ICC-ES Board of Managers held its first meeting during the ICC Annual Conference in Ft. Lauderdale. The Board of Managers advises ICC-ES on business matters. The ICC Chief Executive Officer recommends appointees for ratification by the ICC Board of Directors. Ten members currently serve on the Board of Managers, who, as code officials, architects, and engineers, offer many years of experience working with code compliance. Their knowledge of the built environment provides valuable insight to ICC-ES on public safety issues and allows for a balanced decision-making process while providing evaluation reports on construction products with life-safety as the primary goal. |
| Allen and Cheng Present Seminar at International Roofing and Waterproofing Expo |
ICC Evaluation Service staff presented the seminar "Building Code Requirements for Roofing and Waterproofing Materials and Building Product Evaluation and Certification in the U.S." during the 12th China International Roofing and Waterproofing Expo. Chris Allen and Ping Cheng, ICC-ES staff engineers, presented this seminar to more than 40 attendees. The seminar was the result of a meeting between ICC-ES President Shahin Moinian, P.E., and China National Building Waterproofing Association President Zhu Dongqing during the February Las Vegas International Roofing Expo. | Ekenel and Zhou Present Seismic Design Paper at SEAOC Convention |
Mahmut Ekenel, Ph.D., P.E., and David Zhou, P.E., S.E., Senior Staff Engineers in the Brea, Calif., office were invited to present a technical paper titled, "Testing and Acceptance Conditions for Light-Frame Shear Wall Strengthening Using Glass Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) Composite Systems in Buildings Assigned to High Seismic Design Categories," during the SEAOC Annual Convention. The presentation was well attended. The SEAOC Convention was held Sept. 10-13 in Indian Wells, Calif. |

The ICC-ES webinar, "Approving or Selecting Building Products with Confidence," is designed to help building professionals (building officials, specifiers, designers and others) better understand the process that goes into developing an ICC-ES Evaluation Report and Building Products Listing, so that they can have confidence when approving or specifying a building product for installation. The new dates for the 2015 webinar are Feb. 18 and May 20.
