ICC-ES launches new online customer portal system

The ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) launched a new online Customer Portal System to better support new and existing ICC-ES clients (building, plumbing, mechanical and gas product manufacturers). This new system enables new and existing clients to apply, track and review the status of their report application, while being able to apply for report revisions and review/pay invoices online via credit card. Users will first need to register and create an account.

Los Angeles to expand ICC-ES provider status

In a progressive move to further enhance the service it provides to the public, the City of Los Angeles Department of Building Safety (LADBS) is working to recognize ICC-ES Reports as proof of compliance to the seismic requirements of the California and City of Los Angeles building codes. LADBS has been accepting ICC-ES reports in all other categories for many years. The goal is for this initiative to be fully implemented by January 1, 2018.

ICC-ES issues new report supplements to the requirements of the Los Angeles building and residential codes

ICC Evaluation Service issued its first two evaluation report supplements to DEWALT, showing compliance of products to the City of Los Angeles Building Code and City of Los Angeles Residential Code. The Los Angeles Department of Building Safety confirmed it now recognizes ICC Evaluation Service Reports as proof of compliance to the requirements of the California and City of Los Angeles building and residential codes.

ICC-ES & APA establish new combined product listing program

ICC Evaluation Service and APA — The Engineered Wood Association established a cooperative agreement, offering a new combined product listing program to manufacturers of cross laminated timber (CLT) products. This new program will feature a combined listing report, certifying CLT products for compliance with ANSI/APA PRG 320 Standard for Performance-Rated Cross-Laminated Timber. Manufacturers will then be able to add the well-known ICC-ES Listed Mark of Conformity to their product packaging and identification and the product will be listed as certified by ICC-ES and APA.

ICC-ES receives CARB approval to conduct third-party certification services

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has approved ICC-ES as a third-party certification service for manufacturers of composite wood products destined for sale, supply or use in California. CARB's approval confirms ICC-ES to conduct CARB certification to section 93120.4 of the Airborne Toxic Control Measure to reduce formaldehyde emissions from composite wood products, Title 17, California Code of Regulations, Sections 93120-93120.12.

ICC-ES expands partnership with SAI Global

ICC Evaluation Service expanded its partnership certification program with SAI Global — the largest certifying body in Australia and New Zealand. Under this partnership, plumbing product manufacturers and now building product manufacturers will benefit from combined factory audits and streamlined testing, evaluation and inspection from two reputable organizations, reducing the turnaround time and cost to obtain certification in all three countries.

ICC-ES and Twining to cooperate in testing and certification of cementitious materials

ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) and Twining, Inc., are working in concert to best serve the needs of manufacturers of alternative and supplemental cementitious materials. This cooperation makes available a smooth transition between testing and the evaluations or listings of such products.

DEWALT joins new ICC-ES Affiliate Program

ICC Evaluation Service welcomes Dewalt, a major client to take advantage of the ICC-ES Affiliate Program. The ICC-ES Affiliate Program supports ICC-ES' clients (building, plumbing, mechanical and gas product manufacturers) by increasing the visibility and awareness of their products in the built industry through a number of additional marketing support initiatives. The most important initiative is the linking of clients' reports and listings to ICC's digital codes portal, premiumACCESS, which had over three million site visits in 2016. SG BLOCKS first to be evaluated to new acceptance criteria requirements

ICC Evaluation Service issued ESR-3764 to SG Blocks for its Structural Building Material from Shipping Containers, providing evidence they comply with the code requirements of the 2015 International Building Code and International Residential Code. SG Blocks Building Modules are site-specific, custom-designed, factory-built modules that are transported to a job site and assembled to form a completed building. Shipping containers are used as the source of structural and non-structural building materials for constructing the building modules.
