Medina County, Ohio, Building Department presented innovation award.

The Ohio Board of Building Standards (Board) recognized the Medina County Building Department with the 2015 David A. Smith Building Department Award for Innovation. The award is presented annually to recognize an Ohio-certified building department that has demonstrated exemplary customer service, dedication to public service, and has furthered the mission and goals of the Board.

"Medina County's building department is very knowledgeable, quick and responsive to their customers, and provide valuable services promoting safety and growth in their community," Ohio Board of Building Standards Chair Gerald Holland said.

The Medina County Board of Commissioners passed a resolution recognizing the department's achievement, saying, "Our state and county continues their efforts to address the critical issues of safety, energy efficiency and resilience in the built environment that affects our citizens, both in everyday life and in times of natural disaster, giving us confidence that our structures are safe and sound."
