ICC Board Adopts Budget, Approves New Councils at Winter Meeting The ICC Board of Directors adopted the 2011 Code Council budget, approved a framework for re-engineering its councils and code action committees, and established new rates for membership dues at its 2010 Winter Meeting in Charleston, South Carolina. Council CEO Rick Weiland indicated the budget reflects "conservative revenue projections based upon current economic conditions." A new Code and Standards Council designed to create a cross section of disciplines will be established, along with a series of "Membership Councils" to promote discipline-specific relationships and recommendations to the Code Council. Pictured at the meeting are (from left) ICC Board members Ravi Shah, Jeff Whitney and John Darnall. Click to continue. |

Amended Legislation Would Allow Tribes to Choose Own Codes | ||
Last year, an official with the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), which is responsible for codes and construction of BIA-funded facilities, issued a policy that specified NFPA 5000 as the required building safety code. This new policy is causing major issues, especially for facilities that were already designed and constructed to the IBC, and for tribes that have officially adopted the IBC and other I-Codes, and we are encouraging members and stakeholders to contact their U.S. Senators about current legislation that could easily be amended to allow tribes to choose their own codes.
