IgCC Orientation & Training Tour
Kicks Off in Chicago

More than 60 code officials, architects, contractors and other industry stakeholders met in Chicago to participate in the first International Green Construction Code Orientation & Training Tour. ICC Board Takes Action on Council Charters, Proposed Bylaw Amendments

Exit Routes Option

The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recognized the Code Council's 2009 International Fire Code as an alternate compliance option for means of egress in its Occupational Safety and Health Standards. ICC petitioned OSHA to recognize its code as a way for an employer to demonstrate compliance with the OSHA Exit Routes and Emergency Management (formerly called Means of Egress) requirements.


17 Earn Coveted ICC Master Code Professional Status

The achievement of the Master Code Professional (MCP) designation from the International Code Council is the highest level of ICC Certification and has become the gold standard for demonstrating proficiency in the building and fire safety profession. Currently, there are less than 600 MCP professionals worldwide, and their achievements are a benefit to the code enforcement profession, as well as their communities.

Significant Changes to the International Fire Code 2012 Edition
This course will familiarize fire officials, building officials, plans examiners, fire inspectors, design professionals and others with the many significant changes in the 2012 International Fire Code (IFC). It is also designed to assist code users in identifying the specific code changes that have occurred and, more importantly, understanding the reasons behind the change. This course will review each of the code changes approved by International Code Council Members, provide examples of how these provisions are applied, and will assist code officials and design professionals to understand the intent and application of the new or revised requirements in the 2012 IFC.

  Anchor Provisions Undergo Significant Changes in the 2012 IBC
Since its introduction in 2000, the International Building Code has been the preferred model code for states, municipalities and other jurisdictions throughout the U.S. Significant changes in the 2012 IBC include provisions for anchors in concrete by way of reference in Section 1912 to ACI 318-11, Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete, and a new ACI standard, ACI 355.4-10.

  IAS Training in Abu Dhabi Addresses Workplace Challenges
A team of IAS experts presented three days of training to the Abu Dhabi Municipal Building Departments' executives and managers. The goal of the training was to help Building Department managers learn creative methods to address 21st century workplace challenges, which requires managers to know how to create high-performing teams; design empowering work environments; and develop and manage partnerships, alliances and networks. The training is part of the Abu Dhabi Municipal Building Departments' structured approach to prepare for IAS accreditation.
 
  Code of Honor Online Application Database Opens August 8
The online application database for the Phoenix Final Action Hearings will open Monday, August 8, at 10 a.m. EST and will close Monday, August 29, at 5 p.m. EST. Applicants may apply for the scholarship in a variety of categories; however, all Code of Honor scholars must be a Governmental Member Voting Representative in good standing with the Code Council.
