ICC MEMBER NEWS Ceremony for Firefighter Who Made the Ultimate Sacrifice Tragedy stuck the Campbell County, Wyo., Fire Department on Jan. 31, 1989, when the department was dispatched to a structure fire at the Antelope Valley Baptist Church. This cold snowy night would result in the only loss of a firefighter in Campbell County's history; Alan Mickelson would fall through the roof of the church and perish. This incident sparked another major change in the development of the Campbell County Fire Department. The firefighters and citizens of Campbell County raised funds to build a large training facility to both honor Mickelson and prevent future incidents. Continue reading story |

ICC NEWS Using Current Codes Demonstrates Commitment to Safety, Savings The development of current codes and standards by International Code Council members supports the building industry in the construction of safe and resilient homes and buildings. Individuals who have previous experience with code development, implementation and enforcement as well as those who have little or no experience but would like to learn more about the process are encouraged to apply. ICC JOBTARGET Report: Mixed Bag on Construction Jobs Increase A recent analysis of federal employment data indicates that the construction industry continues to hum along, but future gains depend largely on overall economic growth and new investment in our aging infrastructure. The survey, conducted by the Associated General Contractors of America, showed that construction employment expanded in 211 metro areas nationwide, declined in 67 areas and remained the same in 61 areas.
