Ekenel, Thorsell receive continued recognition from industry.

ICC-ES Senior Staff Engineer Mahmut Ekenel, Ph.D., P.E, was one of three co-authors of an International Concrete Repair Institute's ICRI Journal paper published in June entitled, Acceptance Criteria for Alternative Construction Materials and their Role in the International Existing Building Code (IEBC). The scope of the paper covers the process for code adoption of new materials/technologies, and presents the key features of some acceptance criteria (AC125, AC434 and AC416) for testing and design of alternative systems related to building repair.

Director of ICC-ES Environmental Programs Steven R. Thorsell, AIA, CSI, has been re-appointed for a 19th term to the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) Architectural Registration Examination (ARE) Committee where he serves as Code Liaison. Candidates who want to become licensed architects must successfully pass all divisions of the NCARB exam to become eligible to gain their license to practice in the U.S. and U.S. territories. The ARE committee develops the examination questions. As Code Liaison, Thorsell provides support for code-related exam items in addition to development of practice-based exam items.
