NAECA new rule impacts code officials, Changes to the National Appliance Energy Conservation Act (NAECA) that take effect on April 16 will require higher energy factor ratings on almost all residential gas, electric, oil and tankless gas water heaters. NAECA 2015 applies to products manufactured for sale in the U.S. The responsibilities of code officials, plumbing Inspectors and mechanical inspectors will be impacted by the new regulations. |

Significant changes to An addition to Section 307.6 of the International Fuel Gas Code states that condensate pumps located in uninhabitable spaces and used with condensing fuel-fired appliances and cooling equipment must be connected to the appliance or equipment served by the pump to prevent water damage in the event of pump failure. Deadline nears for public comments on ICC 1000-201 draft. The ICC Commissioning Standard Consensus Committee has held five public meetings to develop the first public comments draft of the ICC 1000-201 Standard for Commissioning. Public comments are requested on this first public comments draft. The deadline is April 13. If you wish to be placed on the "interested party" list for the development of this standard, contact the ICC Secretariat, Dave Walls, Executive Director of Sustainability Programs. Interested parties will be notified by e-mail of standards activities related to the ICC 1000 standard. |

Updated Florida codes available. The latest Florida Building Codes, 5th Edition (2014) become effective June 30 and include building, residential, plumbing, mechanical, energy conservation, fuel gas, existing building, accessibility and test protocols for high velocity hurricane zones. Based on the 2012 International Codes, they include a number of updates from both ICC and the Florida Building Commission. The 2014 Florida Building Codes will also be available as a Complete Collection, Designer Collection, and a Building and Residential Combo. Also new is Significant Changes to the 5th Edition (2014) Florida Building Code: Building and Residential, a resource that details the most critical updates to the updated Florida Building and Residential Codes, the reason behind them and how to apply the changes. ICC-ES evaluation reports for post-installed adhesive anchors Post-installed adhesive anchors manufacturers who hold new or revised ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) evaluation reports published on or after Jan. 15, 2015, are in compliance with the new requirements in AC308 Acceptance Criteria for Post-installed Adhesive Anchors in Concrete Elements. The changes and new test requirements are based on the 2012 International Building Code and the American Concrete Institute standard ACI 355.4-11. AC308 was used with ACI 355.4-11 to ensure all changes and test requirements are met. Read more. |
