Committee Looks at Improvements Voter eligibility, vote ratification, remote voting, increased participation and a host of related, complex issues were on the agenda when the Code Development Review Ad-Hoc Committee met in August. The Committee is charged to take a comprehensive look at the Code Development process and recommend improvements to the ICC Board by the end of the year. ICC Attends NYSBOC Annual Education Conference | ||

Brothers and Piester swore in the new officers: President Wayne Cichon, First Vice President Jim Morganson, Second Vice President Ed Cusato, Secretary Don Mekulik, Treasurer Doug Scarson, Historian Mark Schwarz, and Past President Dan Casella. Brothers also served as the guest speaker during the annual banquet. | ||
ICC Looks to Partner with States to Receive DOE Funding | ||
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recently announced a Request for Proposals to receive funding for $5 million total in contracts for State Energy Offices, with a maximum of $250,000 per state. The Code Council will be working to expand its Energy Code Ambassadors Program to additional states, and also will be supporting efforts to provide training and certification that meets the DOE criteria. The International Accreditation Service (IAS) and the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE) have partnered to create an accreditation program for fire prevention and life safety departments. Based on the draft Accreditation Criteria for Fire Prevention and Life Safety Departments AC426, accreditation by IAS will convey formal recognition to fire prevention and life safety departments that have demonstrated technical competence to administer an effective system of code enforcement, fire prevention, life safety programs and other functions of fire marshals' offices that benefit the communities they serve.
