Help with Superstorm Sandy through the ICC Disaster Response Network In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, ICC Members face the daunting task of helping their communities and states recover from the disaster. Through its Disaster Response Network, the Code Council provides building and fire safety professionals with an opportunity to volunteer to help with the recovery efforts by assisting affected jurisdictions with building damage assessment, building inspections and other code-related functions. The Code Council will work with its Governmental Members to match them up with volunteers. Click here to volunteer. |
Memberships Extended Until the End of the Year for Jurisdictions Impacted by Superstorm Sandy The Code Council is extending memberships to the end of the year for those ICC Members impacted by Superstorm Sandy. Members eligible for the extension must reside in Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Washington D.C. and West Virginia, and will have until January 1, 2013, to pay their Membership dues without their Memberships expiring. |
Deadline for cdp ACCESS Submissions Is November 21 Don't miss the final chance to weigh in on the new cdp ACCESS initiative to expand participation in ICC's Code Development Process. The cdp ACCESS Steering Committee will meet November 30 to consider feedback from Members on its initial proposal. This proposal includes greater online access for all Code Council Members and an online governmental consensus vote for Governmental Members at the end of the process. More than 1,550 Proposed Changes Heard Code Council Governmental Voting Members took action on more than 1,550 proposed changes to the International Building, Fuel Gas, Mechanical, Plumbing and Private Sewage Disposal Codes and the structural portions of the International Existing Building Code during the Group A Final Action Hearings in Portland. Approved changes from the Group A hearings will be published in the 2015 editions of the I-Codes along with those from the Group B Code Cycle in 2013 and the Group C Code Cycle in 2014. Proposed Bylaw Amendment Approved for Electronic Ballot Code Council Voting Members approved proposed Bylaw Amendment 2012-1 during the 2012 Annual Business Meeting, which is intended to require that the Board of Directors articulate a position on all proposed bylaw amendments. The amendment will now go to all ICC Governmental Member Representatives and Honorary Members who have an email address on file with ICC for an email ballot (all other eligible voters will continue to receive paper ballots). Code Update: Significant Code Changes to the 2012 IRC For glazing that is not considered to be in a hazardous location, the rule for the minimum height above a tread at the side of a stairway is now 36 inches to correspond to the height of a guard. ICC-ES Evaluation Reports Accepted by City of LA Department of Building Safety without Requiring City's Research Reports | ||
The city of Los Angeles Department of Building Safety now accepts ICC-ES Evaluation Reports for many product categories without requiring the city's own Research Reports. Included in the list are non-structural or fire-life safety alternate building materials and products listed with acceptable current evaluation reports. | ||
