The facility will house ICC, ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) and International Accreditation Service (IAS) staff. Members, representatives of other organizations, business partners and all ICC stakeholders will benefit from the office's customer service friendliness, including new training facilities and a conference center with enhanced wireless capabilities, security and easy access to restaurants, hotels, and other amenities. |

ICC ANNUAL CONFERENCE ICC 2014 Annual Conference Focuses on Training, Certification, Code Development The International Code Council 2014 Annual Conference, Public Comment Hearings and Expo will include the final step to develop the 2015 International Green Construction Code along with training and certification test-taking for code and fire officials, inspectors, architects, structural engineers, contractors, builders and other professionals in the construction industry. The Conference, Hearings and Expo will be held at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Broward County (Fla.) Convention Center located at the Fort Lauderdale Cruise Port. |

ICC SPECIAL EVENT ICC Panel to Discuss Report Showing 1.6M Americans Lack Indoor Plumbing The Code Council will host a teleconference at 1 p.m. Eastern on Aug. 25 to discuss the lack of basic sanitation needs of the reported 1.6 million Americans in 630,000 households that do not have indoor plumbing. The data from the U.S. Census Bureau indicates that a high number of those without indoor plumbing reside on Native American tribal lands, and in Alabama, Alaska, Kentucky, South Dakota and West Virginia, but could be anywhere in the U.S. Barbara Higgens, CEO/Executive Director of the Plumbing Manufacturers International, will chair the panel. Teleconference panelists and participants will discuss the extent of the situation, examine the range of causes and offer solutions where possible. |

ICC TRAINING & CERTIFICATION Professional Development Council Named; ICC Preferred Provider Program to Launch The new Professional Development Council (PDC) was recently established to better coordinate career path resources for ICC Members and other stakeholders by utilizing shared knowledge between ICC Education and Certification programs. This critical new Council, chaired by Cindy Davis, CBO, replaces both BIPS and the Education Committee, and is composed of two six-member committees: a Certification Committee and an Education Committee. A major purpose of the PDC is to align the ICC Education and Certification Programs to ensure quality training is available to meet the needs of ICC Members, all ICC educational customers and ICC Certification holders while maintaining the credibility and validity of the ICC Certification Program. |

ICC PRODUCTS & RESOURCES Benefits of Special Inspection are the Focus of New ICC Manual The most common contributing factor to significant structural damage and building failure after extreme natural events such as earthquakes and hurricanes is construction that fails to comply with codes, standards and design documents. The new Code Council publication, Special Inspection Manual: 2012 Edition, created in collaboration with Code Council subsidiary International Accreditation Service, discusses mitigating these issues by practicing specialized oversight and increasing inspection frequency, duration and detail during construction. |

ICC FINANCIAL UPDATE ICC Reports Strong Financial Performance in First Six Months of 2014 Improved economic conditions in the U.S., particularly in the construction sector, have positively impacted ICC's year-to-date 2014 financial performance for the first six months of the year. The release of the 2015 I-Codes, state code adoptions, and growth in ICC Evaluation Service and International Accreditation Service revenues have increased year-to-date revenue through June 30 by 23 percent compared to the same period last year. Year-to-date net margin has increased 62 percent compared to 2013. Operating cash and investments have increased $5.7 million in the first six months of 2014. ICC anticipates several potential challenges in the second half of this year, but remains cautiously optimistic in the outlook for the year. View past ICC Annual Reports. |

ICC TECHNICAL SERVICES AHPBC Supports ICC Transparent Code Development The American High-Performance Buildings Coalition (AHPBC), an organization of leading associations representing a wide range of interests in the building and construction industry, issued a statement in support of the International Codes Council transparent process for developing the 2015 International green Construction Code (IgCC). The announcement happened as AHPBC convened for its expert committee hearings in Memphis, Tenn. |

CODES CORNER Significant Code Changes to the 2012 IECC The requirement for tandem wiring in fluorescent lamps in the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) has been deleted. Improvements in ballast design and cost for single- and multiple-lamp ballasts have made this requirement obsolete. The requirement was intended to eliminate the use of two lamp ballasts with a single lamp. |
