The future of safety: Helping students build their dreams. As the construction industry continues to recover from its years-long downturn, it also faces an aging workforce, laid-off construction workers who left the industry for good, and a lack of quality training programs for hourly craft professionals. This is where training programs — such as those offered by the Warwick Area Career Technical Center in Rhode Island and the International Code Council's High School Technical Training Program — step in to help potential construction industry students pursue their career paths. |

Code essentials of the 2015 IECC. In conditioned basements, walls must be insulated from the top of the basement wall to at least 10 feet below grade or to the basement floor, whichever is less, according to the 2015 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). It is very important for the designer and builder to clearly indicate the final grade on the plans. This will speed building department review for compliance and permit issuance. To earn building department accreditation from the International Accreditation Service, the department must demonstrate industry-best practices in its permitting, plan review and inspection services. |
