ICC joins with CALBO to aid California wildfire relief efforts In the past few months, we've seen major devastation from hurricanes in Texas, Florida, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, and now California is dealing with widespread, deadly wildfires. Calls for ICC plumbing standards committees ICC is currently seeking applications for the Consensus Committee on Landscape Irrigation Emission Devices (IS-IEDC | ICC-802), the Consensus Committee on Storm Shelters (IS-STM | ICC 500) and the Consensus Committee on Residential High-Wind Construction (IS-RHW | ICC 600). Photo: White House Burton family visited by President Trump, First Lady Clint Burton, a coworker of International Code Council board member Jim Brown, was at the Route 91 Harvest music festival in Las Vegas on Oct. 1 and was injured during the mass shooting in which 59 people were killed. Burton still had the bullet in his upper leg (the doctors were afraid to remove it) when he was visited by President Trump and the First Lady. Burton's son Bayelee, a recent graduate of the fire academy and a fire fighter in Gillette, Wyo., is credited with saving many lives at the scene of the shooting. Read more. |

Call for input on ICC standards extended to December The ICC Consensus Committees on Landscape Irrigation Emission Devices (IS-IEDC), Storm Shelters (IS-STM) and Residential High-Wind Construction (IS-RHW) will be developing the next edition of their respective standards, ICC 802-2014, ICC 500-2014 and ICC 600-2014. The deadline for suggested revisions or additions to the standards has been extended to Dec. 11. |

Kopczynski stepped up when needed The city of Keene, N.H., is fortunate to have had someone of ICC member Medard Kopczynski's caliber to turn to when a steady hand was needed. After stepping in to serve as city manager, Kopczynski supervised the city's planning and public works projects, enforced the city's building and health codes and property standards, and oversaw building licenses.
